Design tip of the month
Updating your home can be easy and affordable with our designer tips on refreshing your décor with a few low-cost additions or some creative repurposing of items you already have.
Classic Character – Give your wall enhanced architectural interest by adding decorative molding or using painter’s tape to paint shapes that frame furniture, sconces or artwork.
Reflective Repurposing – Apply felt backing to vintage mirrors to repurpose them as trays and top them with candles to create gorgeous centerpieces or accents for your table.
Going Green – Bring new life to your kitchen and fresh flavors to your table by harvesting a naturally beautiful, yet relatively low-maintenance herb garden on the windowsill.
Photo Finish – Fill a bare tabletop with snapshots and postcards covered by Plexiglas to create a memorable display that can be permanent or changed out with the season.
Floor Care Tips
Baby, It’s Cold Outside
And if you’re turning up your heat, that probably means it’s dry inside. Running heaters for long periods of time will dry the air unnaturally, which can cause wood-based flooring to shrink and create an uneven or unstable surface. Make sure you use a furnace-powered or portable humidifier to replsenish the moisture in the air and protect your floors. Routine cleaning throughout the season or an extra finishing can also help to prevent damage. Visit your local Flooring America store to find approved products that make it easy to care for your floors during winter.
